Lesson 1 Why So Much Stress, Anxiety and Depression?

Many of us recognize the challenges in our personal lives and in society at large. First hand, we witness our friends and loved ones suffering from stress, anxiety, emotional violence, addiction, insomnia, depression, chronic illness and/or thoughts of suicide.

The pace of life has increased the demand to keep up. The pervasive nature of distress among so many is now abundantly clear. All the while, clothes, cars and surroundings present an image of success only masking unresolved personal dilemmas.

Not to mention, of course, the many new challenges Covid-19 has added to our lives and family.

We can feel disconnected when our outer life and self-image no longer matches our inner turmoil and struggles. When stress goes unchecked anxiety is a likely reaction, and can lead to unwanted physical issues. [1] This is also true for depression. [2] [3]

With so much to do, we can easily default to black and white thinking, trust very few people and lay blame on someone or something. Traumatic events of moving, loss of a loved one, aging, personal debt and/or illness, disrupt and complicate our lives along with various social issues of housing, politics and the environment.

Technology, though it has revolutionized life and benefited us in ways few could have dreamed possible, now exposes its dark side. Social media, texting, working remotely and using online virtual meetings have short-circuited much of how we humans experience value connecting with our closest friends, family members and colleagues. Think: big-time for Covid lockdowns.

We are learning how technology lends itself to the negatives of isolation, loneliness and mood disorders despite all the good stuff. We can get caught in a downward-spiral of ever-diminishing capacity to consider new ideas, experiment, cooperate or adapt.

Cannabis, used wisely, is here to help you to reinvent yourself in ways that make life worth living again, no matter what.
